LEGACY POLICIES

MISSION

The mission of Legacy Gymnastics is to create a high-quality, energetic, and safe environment that will allow our gymnasts to build a strong foundation in gymnastics and life. We seek opportunities to advance our methods and deliver professional training for all abilities. At Legacy Gymnastics, we challenge our gymnasts to develop as young individuals both in and out of the gym.

We are excited to provide one of the top training facilities in southeast Missouri. Our athletes are provided the highest level of resources and a highly experienced coaching staff. This program will allow your child to develop confidence, poise, individuality, mental and physical strength, determination, dedication, and self-respect.

GENERAL POLICIES

Legacy Gymnastics is built on a culture of respect and hard work. Through this, our athletes are able to be successful and create strong character traits. To establish and maintain our mission, both athletes and parents should conform to our high-level of expectations. Legacy Gymnastics will not tolerate athletes or parents who do not understand and support our values and policies.

Legacy Gymnastics shall have the right to make all decisions regarding a student’s fitness to participate. Legacy Gymnastics shall have the right to dismiss a student if the gymnast exhibits unacceptable behavior which prevents our staff from safely supervising him/her or proves detrimental to him/herself, other gymnasts or staff members as determined by the Legacy Gymnastics directors, or if the gymnast’s parents make an unreasonable demand upon Legacy Gymnastics.

Athletes and parents should follow the proper method of communication as follows: General questions and concerns (including billing and tuition) should be made to Legacy Gymnastics management by email at staff@legacygymnasticsmo.com.

Level-specific questions can be answered by contacting Legacy Gymnastics management.

Direct contact with team coaches should be avoided unless under emergency circumstances.

PARENTS'
EXPECTATIONS

A. Be your child’s biggest supporter mentally. Show your child unconditional love and encouragement.
B. Physically, make sure your child is well nourished, hydrated, and well rested for each practice.
C. Please contact your gymnast’s coach and/or management with any concerns. We are here to serve your child and your questions and concerns are important to us. We will try to find a solution to anything that may be bothering you.
D. Complaining to other parents cannot solve your problem, and we cannot either if we are unaware of them.
E. Please do not try to discuss any concerns with coaches directly prior to, during, or after practice without advanced notice. This takes away from the coach’s ability to do their job on the floor and takes their attention away from the athletes. Please set up such meetings via email. If a matter needs immediate attention, please contact management.
F. The athlete is a student first. There will be times that the athlete must miss practice to a large school workload or school event. Please communicate with us if any such conflict arises via email.
G. The parent can have the most difficult role in the gymnast’s career. While everyone involved (Parent, Gymnast, Coach) are equally important, the parent has the smallest role in controlling the performance of the athlete. At the same time, the parent has the greatest sense of emotional attachment to the performance. This high level of emotional investment and low level of control can lead to stress on the parent’s part. Due to this, parents have been known to lose sight of the important role that they have to play which is to provide support to their child in all situations.
H. Please do not coach your child while at the gym or at home. All gymnasts will progress at their own rate and it is our job as coaches to monitor and further help this progression in the gym. If we feel there is anything additional the gymnast should be doing outside of the gym, we will communicate that with you. If you are interested in how to help your athlete at home, ask your coaches and we will give you non-skills related tasks for outside of the gym (i.e. conditioning, flexibility, etc.).
I. If you feel your child is not progressing, please do not hesitate to set up a meeting with your child’s coach. Hopefully we can help you better understand our position and intentions for your child.
J. If, in the circumstance that you feel that Legacy Gymnastics may not be a good fit for your team experience and would like to try another gym, please be honest with us. We are not hurt by your decision to try something new but are hurt by dishonesty.

ATHLETES'
EXPECTATIONS

A. The most important expectation is that each athlete works hard and tries their best.
B. Good attendance is essential to the success of the athlete.
C. Attend all scheduled practices, competitions, and team events.
D. Arrive to each practice ready to participate with proper attire, hair tied back tightly, and no jewelry.
E. In order to maximize our efficiency in our training, it is essential that the gymnast arrives to the gym floor on time. This includes at the beginning of workouts as well as rotating to events.
F. The coaches will give a reasonable and fair amount of time between events and during breaks when warranted.
G. The gymnast should come prepared each day to work out with a positive and competitive attitude.
H. We understand that all days will not be perfect and the gymnast will become frustrated. However, any frustration that turns into negative behavior or disrespect towards coaches or other athletes will not be tolerated.
I. In order to develop a successful working environment, the gymnast must be committed to excellence each and every day.
J. The gymnast is responsible for all assignments provided by the coaches. This includes skill based or conditioning based assignments.
K. Cheating is the worst form of disrespect to your coaches, your parents, and most importantly yourself and will not be tolerated.
L. Communicate when you do not feel physically or mentally well. Safety is of utmost importance and the gymnast must listen to their bodies and communicate accordingly.
M. Attend each practice with intent.
N. The gymnast must have goals and be mentally and physically ready each practice to work towards achieving these.
O. Gymnastics was built on the idea of being perfect. Judges are in place to break down everything the gymnast is doing wrong. They take away points and never add them back. Essentially it is the coaches’ job to do the same. Although coaches mix in encouragement and fun, the gymnast must learn to take criticism from the coaches and apply it.

TIME COMMITTMENT

Gymnastics is a unique sport. It is one of the few sports that requires such a high time commitment at a relatively young age. We ask that you understand this obligation before accepting a spot on our roster.

SCHEDULED PRACTICES

Please make sure your athlete attends all practices and arrives at each practice on time and is available for the whole practice. We understand that many of you are juggling multiple schedules. All we ask is that you communicate any conflicts with the coaching staff as far in advance as possible. There are no make-ups for any team practices missed.

DISCIPLINARY ACTIONS

A. The gymnast may be asked to sit out of a certain event or time frame and watch.
B. The gymnast may be asked to contact their parents and leave practice early.
C. The coach may request a meeting with the parent.
D. The gymnast may be suspended from practice.

SPECIFIC BEHAVIORS THAT WILL NOT BE TOLERATED

A. Athlete to Athlete Altercations - If an athlete is found bullying (physical/verbal harm) or creating an undesirable environment to train in. This includes Social Media posts.
B. Athlete to Coach Altercations - If an athlete is found to be using disrespectful language or actions towards coaches or other authority figures. This includes Social Media posts.
C. Parent to Coach/Adult/Athlete Altercations - If a parent is found to be using disrespectful language or actions towards coaches, other parents, or other athletes. This includes Social Media posts.

** If Athletes and/or Parents consistently display behaviors that do not align with Legacy Gymnastics’ mission and values, they may be asked to leave the Legacy Gymnastics Team Program.

The development of the coach/gymnast relationship is vital to the success of the athlete. We cannot and will not go to the parent every time there is a problem. We will attempt to build our own relationship with our athletes based on our mission and values.

MAKE-UP POLICY

Maintaining regular class attendance provides optimal training for your child as well as continuity within the group; however, we understand that life happens and there are times when your child will be absent. For this reason, we allow make-ups for up to 30 days after a class is missed. You must be paid for the month of regular classes when making up a class. Gymnasts can utilize a maximum of 1 make-up per registered time period (4 week class). Make-up classes are offered on Friday evenings and registration for these Open Gym classes can be completed in the parent portal. By registering for these Open Gym opportunities, it will ensure your child gets the most of this make-up opportunity with an appropriate gymnast to coach ratio.

If you need to make accommodating arrangements for a month at a time or more, take a look at the classes offered during that time period in our online portal. Each class is offered multiple times a week, and some classes have multiple time availability as well that might work better for your schedule for a particular month or more. For example, there are multiple Goldies classes offered over different days and at different times. If another class offering temporarily fits your schedule better, switching to a different day/time allows your student to continue to progress through the program but at a time more convenient for your needs. Email us directly (staff@legacygymnasticsmo.com) to request a switch and make plans for the interim period.

FINANCIAL OBLIGATIONS

Your child’s involvement will cost you money, time, and effort. The children train in a large and well-equipped gym under the direction of a professional staff. The coaches spend a great deal of time planning, training, traveling, and supporting the gymnasts in addition to the time they spend actively coaching. Further, the coaches meet with parents and gymnasts, return emails and phone calls, set up competitions, work to maintain and improve the facility, and organize and administer the program.

Bills must be paid in full by cash, check, or via credit card or bank ACH through the parent portal. Any returned item fees and chargebacks Legacy Gymnastics receives when processing tuition or team fees will incur a $60 bank processing fee. This fee is the specific charge our payment processor passes along each time an ACH payment fails to process and will be applied every time this situation occurs. Such fees will be itemized individually in your athlete’s account in the online portal. All processing fees must be satisfied before your athlete will be eligible to register for another class session. Questions or concerns regarding tuition can be directed to Legacy Gymnastics management.

FINAL NOTE

Gymnastics is not for everyone. Not all gymnasts will make it to optional levels. Gymnastics teaches values and provides attributes that pass well beyond the competitive floor.
